BMW X6 Review

Have you thought about a used BMW X6 for your next car? Find out if this model is right for you by reading our review…

You could say that the BMW X6 is a marmite car, its divisive looks may not please everyone, but there’s no question about its performance and all-round opulence.

The X6 is a large luxury SUV based on the ever-popular BMW X5. The X6 gets a sexier rakish roof, adding to its distinctive looks although sacrificing some practicality. This car certainly stands out in a crowd, and no more so than when you plant your foot into the thick carpets and watch it hurtle towards the horizon. Every engine in the range offers exceptional power and brings handling and agility more akin to a 2-seat roadster.

It may have been expensive new, but a generous level of standard kit and an interior that’s stood the test of time makes used BMW X6 cars a more than acceptable option!

BMW X6 cars come with a range of petrol and diesel engines, starting with the 35i 3.0-litre petrol. A 4.4-litre V8 petrol provides 408bhp for a very swift 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds, yet it’s the diesel engines that are of most interest to the majority of buyers and the quickest too. This is underlined by the M50d model that comes with a triple turbocharged six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine churning out a brawny 381bhp. However, it’s this engine’s sensational 738Nm of shove spread between 2000 and 3000rpm that makes it so quick, covering 0-62mph in just 5.3 seconds.

When the car was first launched, BMW declared that this wasn’t an SUV, it was instead an SAC (Sports Activity Coupe). While the name may not have caught the public’s attention, the car certainly did with the model living on for years to come. The only close rival the X6 must face is an offering from Mercedes-Benz, the GLE Coupe, which is also a great option, but perhaps not quite as edgy.
