Taking Your Driving Theory Test in Wavertree

Before you can choose your first car from the wide range available at Wavertree Car Centre, you will have to pass two examinations. You will complete the theory examination at an official test centre.

Booking Your Theory Test

You can book your driving theory test online through the GOV.UK website. Make sure that you have your provisional driving licence number, your email address and the credit or debit card you are paying with to hand.

The closest test centre to Wavertree is at 5 Covent Garden, Liverpool, so you will want to select this one. The process should take no longer than ten minutes and you will send a confirmation email after you have completed the booking.

Test Centre

If you are being driven to the centre, it will take between 10 and 20 minutes from Wavertree. There are also a variety of buses which will take you from Wavertree to a stop just a short walk away from 5 Covent Garden. The test centre can be found on the lower ground floor of the building.

The Exam

The theory exam will be split into two parts. The first will consist of 50 multiple choice questions, of which you will need to answer 43 or more correctly to pass. The second is the hazard perception section, which will require you to watch 14 video clips and click on any hazards. The minimum pass mark for this is 44 points out of a potential 75.

After the Test

Once you have completed the theory test, you will be given your results straight away. If you did not pass, you will able to retake the exam after a three-day waiting period, and if you were successful, congratulations! You will be one step closer to driving on the roads of Wavertree and beyond unsupervised.
